I met Coach Jamie on May 7, 2024. I was participating in the Couch to 5K program for people who have either never run, or used to run, or would like to improve their running.
I was in the latter group having struggled with my running for years starting at the age of 60. I was now 66 and I had yet to be able to break a time of 35 minutes for a 5 km run which had been my passionate goal for all those years.
And then I had the good fortune and pleasure of meeting Jamie who was coaching this program. He immediately put me at ease and helped me to focus on areas that I had not considered in my running goal. He worked on my form, breathing, and ran so many sections of the track timing me as we went and said to me, with complete confidence, that I would be able to run the Moon in June 5k race and go under 35 minutes. And this race was in less than 4 weeks!
And then it happened. I kept on listening to what I called “Little Jamie” in my ear while I ran this race telling me all the guidance and training tips while I ran! And yes, not only did I go under 35 minutes, I crushed it, and took 3 minutes off, as I finished this race in 32 minutes which I never thought possible. I had the will and the desire but I didn’t have the coaching before this. Once I had the coaching, as in Coach Jamie, I nailed it and I continue to use these tips in my daily training.
And by the way, I won my age category!

I can’t recommend Jamie enough! Running a full marathon was a dream of mine. I never thought I could do it, but Jamie helped with his incredible support, knowledge, and encouragement every step of the way.
From creating a training plan that fit my schedule and fitness level, to sending him every run I would complete and would go over how well it went or did not, cheering me on during tough miles, and helping me push past mental
blocks, Jamie was there through it all.
His passion for running is contagious and somehow, he knew exactly when to push me and when to tell me to rest. Beyond just the physical training, Jamie helped me believe in myself and crossing that finish line was such a victory and a dream come true for me.

I have been running for 20+ years and even though I have run many half marathons and 10km races I never really took the opportunity to prepare for a marathon. Last year I joined this challenge that took several months to prepare. It was only because I had the best support that I could start preparing, Jamie took the time to prepare my training plan and supported me through the process. I was able to run a half marathon at 5min/km after some time running above this pace and 1 month later, I finally completed my first full marathon.
I would be lying if I would say that this is an easy preparation but as Jamie said, you must trust the process. I am so thankful for his support, and for his genuine interest and continuously checking my progress that allowed me to accomplish my goal.

I started on a fitness journey a year and a half ago, by adding strength training to my running in an effort to break the plateau I was in. And it was working, I was getting stronger and even a little faster. And then I met Jamie Dennison and my running skyrocketed from there.
Jamie took my “I’m just a slow runner” and “I’ll never be able to run a qualifying race” and created a customized training plan to push me to me to new speeds and endurance levels far beyond what I ever thought my body was capable of. In the first 6 months our work cut 30 minutes off of my marathon time, training not just for the physical race, but for the mental race as well. I ran my last marathon with a smile on my face and the confidence of knowing we had put in the work and Jamie would be following along for every step.
I never thought that little ole me would ever be good enough to need a running coach and aim for the goals that I am. But with Jamie’s support I know that I can do anything! I truly hope more people have the honour of calling Jamie Dennison their coach.
